This series of small pen drawings was created during my time living in Durban. I spent countless hours in the local botanical gardens, observing and sketching both plants and people. As I immersed myself in this environment, the natural forms of plants and the human figure began to blur together, leading me to merge them into one cohesive subject.
These 20x20 cm drawings reflect a quiet exploration of the relationship between nature and humanity. The organic lines of leaves, stems, and branches intertwine with the curves and gestures of the human body, creating hybrid forms that echo both the resilience of plants and the fluidity of human identity. The intimacy of the smaller format allowed me to focus on intricate details, using the pen to create delicate connections between these two worlds.
